Greetings all,

On January 15th NRA Executive Vice President Doug Hamlin sent out an e-mail to NRA Staff that additional furloughs were being made, and other employees were being dismissed with those affected notified today, January 16th by e-mail.

I wanted to send you this personal non-NRA note to let you know that I have been notified that I am furloughed. Most of you know that after previous furloughs the Law Enforcement Competitions Department went from a staff of 4 to 1, which was me.

So, at this time I do not know their plans for Law Enforcement Competitions, how Tournament Applications will be processed, Scores Processed and Classifications maintained, or for that matter the Law Enforcement Division itself.

I hope my NRA e-mail account and the LE Competitions e-mail account will be set up to forward to someone to handle. In case it is not, or messages go unanswered, you can contact Law Enforcement Division Director Glen Hoyer at GHoyer@NRAhq.org, or by phone at 703.267.1631. Given this current furlough situation, I would suggest not reaching out to him for two weeks, so he has time to receive direction from above and plan a response. I would also suggest you use Mr. Hoyer’s e-mail address to submit Tournament Applications and resubmit any you may have already sent in..

Last time I was furloughed it was for 6 months, and the rest of the LE Competitions did not make it back at all. In case I do not receive a recall to come back to work, I want to let you know it has been a great honor to work with each of you in various capacities over the years, promote and improve the Police Pistol Combat Program and keep the National Police Shooting Championships going.

I apologize, but I am not allowed to assist you with any NRA related activities while I am furloughed.
